Abstract Economic evaluation is performed to calculate the hosting capacity of solar PV generator that is economically feasible from the perspective of the distribution system owner. The benefit for the increase of hosting capacity in the distribution system is avoided investment cost such as the construction cost of distribution line, the maintenance cost of distribution line, and the replacement cost of distribution facilities. The cost is the investment cost of the smart inverter for increased hosting capacity. The sensitivity analysis on the disposal cost of the smart inverter, the maintenance cost of distribution line, and the length of distribution line is performed to compensate for the uncertainty of future cost.
