Abstract In this paper, a notch is applied to the rotor to reduce the torque ripple of the double V-type IPMSM. In order to apply the notch, it is applied in consideration of the saturation and rigidity limits of the rib part, and torque ripple is optimized by varying the size of the notch according to the barrier layer.
