Abstract This paper is a study on the optimum design of industrial high-voltage induction motor for cost reduction using shape optimization method while maintaining the performance and volume of original motor. Flux-InHouseTool-HyperStudy is used to demonstrate the optimal design process for an induction motor, including stator slot shape, rotor bar shape, stator winding redesign, temperature, etc.
This considers design variables that satisfy the design range and constraints based on the optimal design process operating system.
As for the objective function of the optimal design, the optimal values of iron core, copper material cost, efficiency, power factor, starting torque, starting current, rated torque, rated current, and maximum torque are determined through multipurpose optimization using the GRSM algorithm. Through this optimization method, cost reduction was reduced by 6.95% compared to the basic model.
