| Abstract |
This paper describes the design of a dual-function microwave power divider architecture that allows the phase of the two outputs to be selected as either in-phase or anti-phase. Inserting a 180o phase converting structure into one of output terminals of a normal power divider causes the anti-phase between the two output terminals. To selectively achieve the dual functions, RF SPDT (single-pole double-throw) switches are ultilzed in this study. By selecting the in-phase or anti-phase path with the SPDT switch, the power divider architecture can be designed with either in-phase or anti-phase outputs. The proposed dual-function power divider architecture consists of a normal Wilkinson power divider, two SPDT switches, and a transmission line with a anti-phase converting structure. The validity of the proposed structure is verified by its measured characteristics with the phase errors within ±2o for the both in-phase and anti-phase power splitting operations. |
