Abstract This study proposes a digital twin model and simulation system for safety management of energy storage systems (ESS). The system consists of physical, data, platform, and service layers integrating field facilities, an integrated DBMS, digital twin simulation, and services. A field-synchronized digital twin is constructed using LiDAR-based 3D modeling and a battery equivalent circuit model (ECM) trained with operational data. The system is implemented in four stages: representation, monitoring, simulation, and federation. It supports lifetime prediction, fault simulation, grid-connected analysis, and integrated control simulation. These functions provide battery state of health (SOH) estimation, analysis of voltage and temperature faults, assessment of Power Conversion System (PCS) fault impacts, and energy-management strategies. By integrating ESS models, operational data, and simulation functions, the framework enables real-time monitoring and predictive decision support, providing a basis for preventive ESS safety management.
