Abstract To increase the penetration of wind turbine (WT) generators in the power system, grid-integration standards have been needed for the stable integration of a large-scale system connected wind turbine generators. Especially, the low voltage ride through (LVRT) function has been emphasized, as it relates to the voltage-reactive power control of the wind turbine generator. In addition, it is important to accurately determine the voltage stability of the system for fast voltage recovery in the system contingency. Therefore, this paper proposes the improved method using dynamic reactive power reserves (DRPR) among wind turbine generators in order to determine the system stability and satisfy the LVRT condition in large-scale system connected wind turbine generators. To prove the effectiveness of the proposed method, the simulation results demonstrate dynamic voltage recovery according to the LVRT conditions.
